How can I solve a noise coming from the rear of my BMW 5 series?

I own a BMW 530i M Sport saloon (9/05 reg) which, to date, has been trouble free (I've owned it since new). However, just recently, I've started to hear a noise, which I think is coming from the rear, and which sounds like something rolling around in the car. Any ideas what it might be?
