Mend John Deere 112 Riding

How to adjust the governor on my John Deere 112 riding mower?

Every once in a while, I move the lever (governor?) on the right-hand side of my JD 112 while the mower is not moving and consequently mess up the speed of the mower. I know it's supposed to be moved only when the mower is moving. How can I fix it (reset it ?) so I can change the engine speed?
