Iveco 75e15 horsebox questions?

how do i remove the exhaust brake system to satisfy the mot test? can I immobilise the valve in the exhaust or must it be removed completely?

Does the switch/pedal on the floor have a valve below it with a "Y" branch and 2 air pipes? On my 75E15 there is a valve dangling with two pipes and there is air leaking from it and there is just a hole in the floor where i guess the foot switch for the exhaust brake should be??

Any help would be much appreciated! Also gears are a bit stiff, and i believe this may because the telescopic linkage is bent - anyone know where i can get these at reasonable costs?

The exhaust system on my 75e15 has split at the point where the down pipe and middle section meet and directly above the exhaust brake. This was picked up on when I took it for recent plating. The examiner told me that I could actually remove the exhaust brake and it would make no difference. Is this correct?

Ironic that you should ask about that! It's called a "Jake Brake" colloquiolly.
A flap or butterfly valve is provided in the exahaust system. When you put your foot on the floor button, a valve opens and sends compressed air to an actuator cylinder which closes (not competely) the flap in the exhaust. This creates back pressure on the engine which slows the lorry down. It is very useful in mountainous areas (i.e. for international hauliers going through Italy etc) because prolonged application of friction drum brakes causes brake fade which is avoided by using the exhaust brake.

The rubber foot button, is the exhaust brake you use it when you are slowing down, it works better at high revs than at low, when you are slowing down just put your foot on it and you will hear it and feel it if your revs are high enough, ring iveco up and ask them about immobilisers give them your reg number and they will be able to check if it was fitted with one from new.`
