Engine warning light ?

Which warning light? There quite a few.
Read your handbook.
The lights are there for a reason.
The car may be running, but you could be wrecking your engine if, for instance, it's the oil pressure light.
The car could be unsafe if it's the brake fluid light.

Did anything happen to the car prior to the light coming on, e.g. had anyone been under the bonnet, wheels removed, car valeted or hoovered etc.
I would recommend you dont drive the car until you know what's wrong.
