uPVC deadlocks / locking bolts loose?

The 'hooks' and door bolt drop / come out after pulling handle down and let it return to normal position, instead of only when the door handle is lifted. The locking strips is a GU ferco type. Is the lockstrip bust or can I adjust it so the locking hooks / bolt only come out when I lift the handle up?
Ive taken it off but can't see any obvious breakage or anything that I could adjust.
