loss of power every 15 or 20 miles?

i have a jeep grand cherokee 97 4ltr gas con, its fine round town but when i go on a run say 100 mile i have to pull over every 15 to 20 mile due to loss of power .i turn the car off for a minute turn it back on & it is fine .then check engine ligth comes on.when back to runing round town for a week it will go off.till next time & the same happen,s.dave

I have a 97 jeep also that did the same,when it happens next time stop the car,turn the ignition key to the off position then turn it to the position where all the lights on the dash board come on ( do not start the car ).do this 5 times this resets the fault,mine was ok after that.hope that helps you
