How can I open the bonnet of my ford focus?

when the key is turned does it pop up ? if so it must then be turned the opposite way to release it fully

Give the lock a good soaking overnight with some WD40.....open the key flap with a small screwdriver to ensure that the lube gets inside, and also squirt some in above the lock, where the catch mechanism is. Get someone to press the bonnet down lightly as you try the key in the morning, as this takes the pressure off the latch.
