transit t260 unable to start?

HI all i live in hastings My transit t260 is having trouble starting i'm getting alot of clicking, the speedo needle rises and falls whilst attempting to start i jump started the van by rocking in gear i suspect its the starter motor but before ordering parts i'd appreciate some advice
