Thanks to the link in the answer provided above by Christopher Lewis, I just fixed my Kenmore 90 Series washer myself and saved the $300 repair bill my neighbor just paid for the same thing.

THe same thing has happened to mine twice. The part is only $12 at your local Sears repair outlet, but can be somewhat difficult to get to on the machine. YOu have to drain the machine and be able to turn it on it's side. I will try and find the step by step instructions for this repair and post them here.
