ford mondeo estate water tank empty quick and using alot of fuel?

i have a 2.5 petrol mondeo estate t reg. it keeps losing the water in the water tank quickly and asing alot and i mean alot of fuel. does the water pump need replacing or is it a major problem. also can i do the work my self or should i take it to garage? thanx

Sounds more like a cylinder head gasket failure. Best get it to a garage, if you keep driving it you will probably damage the head.
