the answer is correct line up the arrows & pull i did it in 30 sec.
it even showed "wind this way" & "stop wind here" so you can push through the feed hole.

The black shield must be rotated to remove it.
To remove the black shield, there are 2 tabs that hold it in place. The first one is at the middle of the bottom of the black shield. Use a knife point to get under the edge of the tab, and raise it enough for the shield to rotate. The second tab helps keep the shield from rotating. Just use a thin flat blade screwdriver to pry between the black and yellow tab so that the shield can rotate off the yellow cover halves that cover the motor.

its actually really really easy just pull on the spring loaded head and it comes right off.

All I can say is that I have the same problem with the same string trimmer. I've been looking all over the web to find an answer, but it's not encouraging, Loretta. A couple of comments on the Wal-Mart site (some people had the patience, or the frustration level tolerance to really finish the third-degree questionaire that Wal-Mart requires to post a comment on their website, though I didn't) said that this is about the worst product they ever had to deal with, and returned it after only a couple hours.
