can i repair my series 90 kenmore washer?

the washer has relativly low hours , but out of no where it stoped spinining and agatating, it fills and pumps water out, it makes a slight humming noise and the agatator is stiff and won't move. is this a basic handy man issue, or should i just call a repair man

If your motor is functioning but, you hear a grinding noise on spin and agitate, you need a motor coupling. This is a very common repair on this type of washer. It is a 3 piece part that sits between the motor and the gearcase. If your motor is just humming and then shutting off, sounds like your motor may be bad.
