Any advantage?

I have a router which accepts 3/8" and 1/4" cutters I thought about a 1/2" router. Is there any differnce in performance of the cutters?.

I use mostly in my home made router table, occasionally for hand held work.

1/2" chuck routers are more powerful than the smaller ones, which could be an advantage if you are machining heavy hardwoods, work tops or large doors - but naturally there is a trade off in their physical size....also the no load speed of the larger machine tends to be a little slower. As for the cutting tool quality, personally I've not noticed any difference, but then again I don't use mine very often.
