it could be hydrauliced too ,sometimes fuel leaks into the crankcase and the piston cannot compress it the same way it does air ,so u may need to take out the spark plug and turn the engine over somehow .the starter motor should take some current out and dim the brake light if its working ok but make sure the brake liht switchs are ok by pulling them one at a time and checking the rear light is bright when u do as they or at least on will nedd to work to complete the starter circuit.the kickstart can jam due to badly worn gears usually the smaller of the two the one that has the kickstart lever attached to it is called the quadrant but this one is the tougher of the two gears u will be able to see if the teeth are ok by removing the left hand engine cover it dry inside so dont worry about oil coming out ok hope that helps u alot ,adam
