Why wont my Vito acceparate past 3000 rpm?

hi mate,this is a bit of a long shot and anyone who reads this will think ive just come in off the last bananna boat!!....modern diesils are governed in numerous ways......for instance, when reverse gear is engaged it also governs the injection system to prevent over speeding whilst reversing.... have a peek to see if your reverse lights are working as they should
......its worth a shot,if this dont help ill get mee fishing rod and get back on da boat
