pump?

hi can anyone help, ive just got a hotpoint dwf30 dishwasher and it do not let in the water, i can hear the water pump working, if i pour water in the dishwasher it works but as soon as it need water again it stops, it pumps out the water but do no let it in. can anyone help please.
