how can i fix my phillips dvd player?

when i plug into mains the laser unit chatters,vibrates,shakes and whines then moves back and forth also the draw doesnt open and none of the controls activate.I have had the top off to see whether a foreign body had got in etc, no luck as yet,what if anything can be done to rectify this and is it a common problem,the unit is almost 2 yrs old,hope someone can give me a clue........
