If you remove the agitator following these directions, you'll see if the basket or agitator threads are stripped.
To remove the Agitator out of the basket: removed the rinse dispenser, use a pin knife to pry the agitator cap off then use a 5 16/24 wrench to unscrew the agitator screw & its washer (comes off in one greasy piece). You can lift the agitator from the basket now. Examine the basket threads and agitator threads, are they worn? Call a repair person.
mine were fine so I separated the auger (the white middle piece w/the barber-pole like wings) from the agitator (base). All to find out the small yellow cluthes in the cam drive were worn out. Now I replace these and return all parts, it should fix my problem.
