The signalling device should have been removed from your control panel & the system reprogrammed for customer reset.
Talk to the Service Manager of the Alarm Company and ask why this was not done when the monitoring was cancelled.
If the offer made happens it will prove what a poor company you have been dealing with, what has been offered is a big no, no.
I would not use anyone who offers to circumvent the system in this way, what other dubious practises are on offer, this is supposed to be your - and others - SECURITY that is being talked about.
