How do I get the top off my Bernina Minimatic 807?

It took ages to work it out... open up the face place (which houses the light bulb), and there's a big shiny knob in the back corner - press it. And it pops the top right off! Meanwhile I'd been pressing a latch I thought was a lever, and discovered the face plate wouldn't stay shut again - oops! Pleased to get the top off to re-position that little catch... I know this is an OLD post, but I came across it in my search, so hope someone else finds this helpful!

It is very easily done by first opening the end cover/light housing on the left end of the machine, then you push in a button. This button looks more like a half inch diameter, silver, serated edged knob. It is towards the top/rear area, push it in towards the right and lift the cover carefully. Hope this helps!

Hello Valerie,
I wish I could remember where the clips are but I would get the top off from the balance wheel end, they did alter the design on the top and what you could try is to make sure the takeup lever is down and the faceplate open and push the top from the balance wheel to the left in case it has slide clips, I will try and find out more., you can find my email address on any answer from page 25 down because this site no longer allows email addresses to be shown.
