ROUTER CUTTERS?

I am UK based and bought a set of 12 router bits but picked up the wrong shaft size, 1/2" instead of 3/8" although the store will change them is there an advantage in having cutters with 1/2" shafts?.

If so then I'll add a new 1/2" router to my existing set of 3 all 1/4" or 3/8" which will hopefully fit my home made router table.

many thanks Peccavi that's solved a headache as what to do after looking at 1/2" bit selections theres are a couple I want not in the 1/4 or 3/8 range.
thanks again.

I think the advantage is more to do with the Router itself - There's a bigger range of ½" cutting tools than the smaller shaft diameters and the machines capable of driving them often have more power - better cutting performance and duty cycle.
