How do I get the nozzle off (and on again) on a Dyson vacuum hose?

On my DC07 Animal I was able to successfully cut off a few inches and re-affix the hose collar assembly using the instructions provided above. However, it took me a while to grind off the factory glue left on the black collar before re-epoxying the hose in place.

For not being glued on, there sure was a lot of glue! :)

Time will tell if my repair holds. Unfortunately, just after epoxying the hose to the black collar, I realized that I should have cleaned the hose first. I'm sure all the dust from years of use will weaken the bond. Oh well, plan B (complete hose replacement) appears to be "only" $40 if this doesn't work.

I agree, they are definately not glued. I carefully removed the clear plastic button by prising it out with a terminal screwdriver,then with two larger screwdrivers depressed the two plastic lugs (one on the front, the other on the back ). This unclips the inner core from the outer so with a bit of force and an extra pair of hands you can remove the broken hose.
Shorten the hose, glue it in position and reassemble. It clips together easily.

These hoses are not glued. you need to bress the black clips on each side hard with hose release button down. if not, make a crack (line down to the button and then after it will come out. then super glue the line back and you will have a working hose.
