how do i install a new pull cord on a snapper trimmer s31sst?

i have the case lose except i can't get the end that recieves the drive cable loose so that the case comes off

I just just took mine off. One person held a large pair of pliers on the washer and the other turned the end with a wrech, it is on there pretty tight. It is NOT reversed threaded.
