how can i fix my Zanussi washer/drier ZJD 1285?

No matter what setting it's put on with dial,the machine just fills up and goes thru settings in couple of minutes,dial just turns as if posessed!.I've checked filter which was pretty clogged but is clear now.The machine does empty,so I d'ont think its a blockage problem,,seems to be an electrical problem,like something needs to be reset??Any help much appreciated.
