Help..!! Bmw 540i E39 Automatic Gearbox Not Unlocking ?

Hi There,
I Hope someone here can help me?
I have been having trouble with my automatic gearbox, I can't get it out of park..
When I switch the ignition on the gears lock, but when i switch the ignition off I can feel the gears unlock and then am able to move them, but like I said as soon as i start the ignition it locks again..
And then all of a sudden it righted itself, and it all worked fine again... This Happened a week ago...
then i have just gone out and parked up, and it happened again, i couldn't get it into drive i felt it lock as soon as i switched on the ignition.
Can anybody please tell me what this problem is?
and how much it is gonna cost?
and who do i need to see?
Any help is appreciated..

or on the other hand check that the magnet locking device has not jammed up ,to do this pull the leather boot up that raps around the gear stick inside the car on the centre console,now look inside and you will see a bronze barrel this is the gear locking device,start your car then put your foot on the brake peddle and do not take your foot off and look at the bronze barrel to see if the magnet pulls inside the barrel to release the gear if not its broken. tap your foot on and off the brake peddle and you will hear the magnet shooting in and out of the gear bar inside the consol if its working ok

sounds like the automatic gearbox controler or (EGS) as its known has an error ,to me, this controls all manner of thing like speed change gear shifting car load ect .it sits on the bulk head under the aircon filters in the engine bay the one on the right side, if looking under the bonnet,and it should be the one with the blue plug not the other one as thats the (dme) ecu . take a chance get a second hand one with the same part number and pop it on ,if ya buy new its 600 and then it will need to be programed into the car as well so a second user one is best, i had this only my e39 wouldnt move in any farward gears ,my diagnostics machine said it was the gearbox controller and the digital fuel controller .
