How to reset the radio presets on a car radio?

I have a 1995 Acura and wish to reset the preset buttons on the built-in car radio. The manual says to navigate to the station you want, and simply press and hold the desired preset button until you hear a beep. Problem is, if I press, say, button 2, the radio immediately takes me to the station that was at that preset button 2 location before. So how do I change it?
