Mend Ford Blower Heater Resistor

Heater control resistor?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me.

I have a 97 Escort (TDi Estate) and I need to replace the heater control resistor as the blower only works on position 3.

Can any kind soul tell me where it is and how to access it ? Through engine compartment via bulkhead access of crawling under the dash ?

Have located -

The fan speed resistor is located in the top of the fan motor cowling,at the rear of the engine bay ,behind plastic bulkhead,below wiper linkage.The resistor type is dependent on whether it has a/c or not.
