Mend Heating Temperature Thermostat

why is my Thermostat not switching off the radiators?

I have a wall mounted thermostat. When I switch it to 0 it should not come on. However even when the temp is 10C the radiators still switch on. What is wrong?

Possibly the stat is not graduated in degrees on a zero to 30 basis ie zero on the stat is not zero in the space. Most room stats are V.simple bimetallic strips and not a precision instrument. they rare a bit accurate at between 16 and 25 degrees
At the end of the day it may just be knackered
