Mend Dyson DC07 Hose Rubber Bottom

Dyson DC07 internal hose?

Which way round should this be installed?
With the rubber attachment to the hose at the top or at the bottom,
ie on the body of the cleaner or on the brush?
It does not seem to fit easily either way round.

The rubber end fits in to the body of the dyson and the hose screws anti clockwise onto the brush end.
