Zanussi fjs 1245 w new year disaster ?

Friday night before new year weekend, and washing machine has stopped working. Nothing drastic, no smoke or smells, no error codes - it just hung.

I switched it off for three minutes to release the door & rescue the washing. When i switch it back on it, the door locks again. I can re-program it, but it doesn't start it just hangs there with the door locked.

The machine is nearly 4 years old and used about 10 times a week (young children). I assume that maybe the machine thinks it is still full of water, and thats why the door won't release - but there are no error codes. Is it worth me checking the connections, or with a machine with that much mileage, should i replace it? Time is of the essence here, as we have loads of washing to do and the next working day is Tuesday.
