how do I get my cd burner to work?

I have a "roxio" cd burner as my computer burner does not work.I can't get my computer to recognise the roxio ,ie the "G" drive .It seems to have "lost" the "g" drive.(it worked before)
I think I just need to change the default?
how do I do that?

have you installed the drivers that came with the burner on a cd rom? if you have try uninstalling and reinstalling
