when does a cambelt need replacing on a 1996 (p-reg) ford escort 1.8 lx 16v?

it's now on 84k, is it an easy job, any idea how much a garage would charge.

Hi, the belt, the guide rollers and the tensioner should be replaced @ 80,000 miles or 5 years the book time is 2.3 hours and you need a locking bar for the camshafts and a camshaft sprocket holding tool
