Mend Brandt STV1135 Washing Machine Wont Start Motor

brandt stv1135 washing machine.- won't start ?

I have a Brandt stv 1135 washing machine - top-loader. When switching on the red light comes on to show all the settings are o.k. but then the red light just goes out and that is it. I wonder if perhaps a motor or pump is not functioning.
I would appreciate advice.
