Mend Hotpoint 8553 Freezer Refrigerator Motor

How can I get my Hotpoint 8553 freezer to work again ?

I turned my fridge/freezer off to de-ice the freezer compartment but when I put it back on the motor is running and the fridge gets cold but the freezer doesn't.
I have messed about with the two rocker switches but I don't know what they do (or how they were originally set).
Can anyone help ?

Hotpoint Hotpoint 8553 Kitchen Appliances, Refrigerators Freezer Refrigerator Motor

Could be that the system has lost some refrigerant, this has escaped when the system was switched off and the pressure rose within the pipework. if the motor runs constantly and not much cooling takes place this is the most likley reason.
