petrol flymo l420 jlo?

Just bought this 2nd hand, used it for 45mins worked perfect, then the motor started to slow down and then surge, it starts 1st pull but the revs are up and down.Could the carb need cleaning?

Does sound like a fuel problem if the engine is "hunting". Has the fuel filler cap got a clear vent? If it starts first time after cutting out, it would appear that there is a restricted flow of fuel. So, maybe look for fuel filters first, if no luck there then it looks like you may have to do a carb clean, starting with draining off any residule in the carb bowl.
