Mend Accenta G3 Tamper Fault

Accenta G3 external sounder keeps bleeping?

I had Tamper fault, which I narrowed it down to chewed up wire to external bell box. I repaired the wire and buzzed them. After connected the wires to external bell box my Tamper fault has disappeard, but the external sounder keeps bleeping as soon as i connect the battery. Could it be the battery, which is about four years old? Please help.
