You need:
A draw wire (available from electrical wholesalers)
A roll of 1mm green and yellow single core wire
Some electrical tape.
A medium flat headed screwdriver.

Turn off the main switch at the consumer unit!
Unscrew the ceiling roses in all the other rooms on the same floor as your bedroom.
Take the cover off the consumer unit and locate where the wires go for the lighting circuit for the floor you're working on.
Feed the draw wire into this hole until it comes out of one of the lighting points.
Tape the end of the green and yellow wire to the end of the draw wire which is at the consumer unit and pull it through from the other end until the draw wire is out and you have green and yellow wire in it's place.
If the earth wire hasn't ended up where you wanted it, feed the draw wire into the hole which has a red and black wire going into it until it comes out in the next room.
Keep trying until it comes out in the room where you need it.
When you have the earth where you need it, cut the wire at the consumer unit end, strip about 5mm and screw it into the earth terminal which corresponds with the number of the lighting circuit which you're working on.
Fit the ceiling fan (using the new earth) and screw all the ceiling roses back on.
Put the cover back on the consumer unit.

If in doubt get an electrician in - there's no shame in it!
