hi has anyone ever tried fixing a downpipe to a caravan before i am afraid to drill the caravan because of the potential for leaks is there a better way?

an alternative I have been looking at would be to fix square or rectangular down pipe using 3M d/s tape.
I am experimenting with different ways to blank off the end of my open gutters and add an outlet to a downpipe!
