Mend Briggs & Stratton Engine Carburetor Lawn Mower

5 hp briggs and stratton fuel mistery?

I have a 5hp Briggs and Stratton engine that will run while it's off the motorcycle frame but after reassembled it is starved for fuel. I have replaced the carb. the engine sits at an angle and I was wondering if there was a problem with the fuel tank since the spongelike material inside the tank has deteriorated and had to be cleaned out?

hello, the b&s 5hp can't be run at more than about 15 degrees tilt as the fuel tank is not a gravity empty type and the carb has two pickup pipes and it won't suck the fuel properly.
