My sky+ box keeps turning itself off and I need to switch off power and ?

reset it. What is wrong ?

Happened to us too - updated the software and the it said it had worked. But no change. Contacted Sky - it seems our box was one of the first Sky HD boxes and although you think it has upgraded the software - in fact the box is not capable of it and you need a Mark 2 or above box. So they changed the box for a new one - they did say there would be an £85 charge but we challenged this, having been a long term sky user - they checked our account and agreed we had been with them a long time - and waived the fee. Now have a perfectly working new box

My box was turning off after about a 60secs so
I have just updated my software like you said and upto now every thing is ok been running for 20mins

Tried it last night and it's resolved my problem with the box turning itself off. This problem has been increasing in frequency over the last few weeks

thanks for the info this update fixed my sky HD box from freezing and switching off when in menu thanks again........

I have the same problem with a new box. updated the software but as soon as i push the green button in tv guide it cuts out again and goes to the SKY+ msg and cuts out once more. Grrrrr

You need to update your software .
If you want to proceed, turn the digibox off at the mains. Wait for a minute and then press and hold the back up button on the front panel of the box (not the remote control). Now turn the power back on and continue to hold back up for awhile; if you're viewing via SCART then a message will appear shortly to say that the software download is in progress. After reading the message you may let go of back up and go for a cup of tea. Do not press any more buttons, and ensure that the box is not disturbed for at least 10 minutes. Good luck!

mine has been doing this from 3am till now, I had a regular thomson box for over 5 years no problems, got a sky hd box just before christmas, and now potentially will lose all recorded progs, boo hoo!

Does the sky+ box need yo be connected to a phone line for the software update??

what ever you do don't call the sky help line they are cr*p.i have a problem with mine.it just turned it's self off last night and now the next still nothing.so i call them,they say im the one with the problem not my tv or sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
