No Information in Manual?

I have just bought a coffee maker model number XQ687T.no information about the long black stick with the round hole at the end .Also the dail under the lid with all the numbers on

XQ687T Kitchen Appliances, Coffee Machines Manual Maker Model

That's just to catch any coffee grains or other weenies from going down into into the heating system. It's removable to allow for cleaning.
