zafira!what could it be?

hi,
Three weeks ago I bought a auto zafira elegance,1.8,x reg,just to find myself in a pickle this week when my car trouble started(well,not to mention that 5 weeks ago my sharan went poof too!)
Reversed from my home ok,then when changed gear,my gear lights went all crazy,all on at the same time,on the dashboard the spanner sign was on and i was stuck,car wouln't move.switced off and on, finally could drive but just to park once again on the drive way.phew! that was lucky!!Anyway,the car makes a very strange noise,booklet says is some engine electronics system fault,but as i notice so many of us zafira owners seem to have this problem or one alike.any ideias what could it be? anyone with the gear lights going nuts??
