Mend Ford Fiesta Quartz Timing Belt Diesel

Bottom timing belt failed - are the valves ok?

Hi all, 1995 1.8 L diesel ford fiesta Quartz.
The bottom timing belt has failed.
The top belt appears fine.
Are the valves ect damaged when this failure occurs?

if its only the pump belt that has broken and assuming no pieces have got between cam belt and gears [to put valve timing out ]valves should be ok .if you remove cam cover andcheck each valve clearance when closed, providing there is no "great "discrepencies then they will be ok.
