inserting a cassette which normally automatically plays now it will not. ?

Inserting a cassette which normally automatically plays now it will not. Makes a little noise then tries to play other side and same thing happens. No damage to cassettes; have tried several but just keeps going from one side to the other and will not play. Had been working perfectly.
