Adding iPod connector to my Stereo? ?

Hey guys, I've had a quick search in here to try and find my answer without bothering you but I've had no luck.

I've recently bought a 2005 Ford Fusion 2 which comes with a '4500 RDS E.O.N' Radio/CD player. From previous experience I've been able to simply lift the headunit out of the car, but this seems to be split into 3 seperate panels on the dash!? I've consulted the manual and it gives no information about removing it and there are no removal tools.

I did phone the dealer to ask if they can fit an iPod connector, but they said I would have to upgrade the entire unit which would cost far too much. Is it possible to go somewhere like Halfords (or Ebay) and get an iPod connector that would fit my stereo?

Also (and probably more importantly) how do I remove the unit so I can take a look at the connectors?

Any help is much appreciated as my bank account wouldn't survive a replacement unit!

- cheers guys, Jamie.

I have the same car, which I purchased 2 weeks ago.
When I bought it, it had a CD stuck inside it the player. Turns out there was actually 3, yes 3 CDs stuck inside! lol
Fortunatly my brother in law is a mechanic, so he managed to get them out.
A word of advice though, the layout/design of this car stereo is terrible. Its not even remotley easy to get out. You need to take off the whole front panel (the thing that covers over the stereo). This involves alot of fiddly screws, and also means disconetting alot of stuff.
My advice: it might be alittle more expensive, but get someone who knows what they are doing to look at it..

I'm looking for the same thing and it's looking likely that it's not possible with this radio. You can take it out by removing the black dashboard fascia (oblong piece of plastic fascia from the top of the dash to the bottom) and then the radio is actually one big radio made to look like 3 separate ones. Ingenious!
