My Bernina 830 (27 years old) has stopped working on the zig zag stitch. The ordinary straight stitch was missing the odd stitch and I cleaned and oiled the machine but the zig zag stitch will hardly work at all. The needle goes from side to side but only does a straight stitch. Is it just too old or can something be done? Please help.

If the machine is still missing stitches after putting a new needle in then you may need to retime it, if you email me I will attach instructions.
