I am trying to fit a second hand Zanussi aquacycle 1500?

I am trying to fit a second hand Zanussi aquacycle 1500 but when I turn it on it just hums and then goes silent. It sounds like no water is getting in but I have checked the water hose and that is flowing fine and I have cleaned out the washing machine filter Any ideas where to look next?
