A friend asked me to look at their Hotpoint Aquarius FDW60 dishwasher which is tripping out the ring MCB and the RCD in a split board. I've measured the phase to earth resistance at the plug top and found a short. From previous experience with similar equipment I suspect a faulty element. Could anyone with more experience provide advice on a likely cause? An engineer's manual and schematic wiring diagram would be of great help with diagnosis.
Ours had a simular problem, on removing the right hand side panel I found the live feed had been touching the heater and burnt through causing a short as had the neutral. Both are cut too long anyway so I cut back beyond the damaged section and fitted a new spade connector. **bingo** Won't be buying another Hotpoint the build quality is crap.
