advent 7081 will not start?

anybody know how to get this laptop up and running when i start it up windows xp appears then dissapears then the screen opens up with start comp at safe mode, or safe mode with netw, etc and ive tried to start with all the options and nothing works i have the notebook supporting utility cd but nothing happens with that.
