Mend Nissan Ute Z16

what do you do to tune a Nissan Navara Ute it just wont IDLE?

I want to be breifed to refresh my memory
I have a 1989 Navara Ute with a Z16 Engine and Hitachi 2 Barrel Carburetor
When i advance timing without Vaccum Advance or with it idle just wont stay after setting offf down the road Then it stalls
At tune its 6-12 degress BTDC i was trying 10 It should rev and Idle
